South Alabama Dominates Eastern Michigan At Home In 68 Ventures Bowl

Playing a bowl game in your own stadium has its advantages. 

The South Alabama Jaguars were in control of Saturday's 68 Ventures Bowl in Mobile from the first few minutes of the contest. It was one of the more one sided contests this bowl season, which ended in a final score of -. The victory was also South Alabama's first-ever FBS bowl win.

Here are a few things that were particularly eye-catching about the Jaguars' win.

Both Jags QBs Shine

Without Carter Bradley, USA started Desmond Trotter at quarterback. Trotter threw for 115 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for a touchdown.

The Jaguars quickly building a large lead gave them the opportunity to get freshman Gio Lopez some significant snaps. Lopez threw for 192 yards and three touchdowns, Lopez also carried seven times for 88 yards and a touchdown. Lopez was named the bowl's MVP.

Pritchett 's Huge Contributions

Sophomore receiver Jamall Pritchett caught eight passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns. One was a 42-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. He was named Player of the Game by ESPN, averaging 15.9 yards per catch.

Stifling Defense

The Jags allowed just 77 yards on the ground and 73 through the air. They picked off the Eagles twice. EMU had just ten first downs all night.

A Brawl After The Final Whistle

After a night where things did get testy between the two sides during the game, it boiled over during the postgame show. Several members of both teams came to blows with one another in the process of leaving the field and heading toward the locker room.
