Spanish Fort 2026 quarterback, Aaden Shamburger has committed to the hometown Jaguars of South Alabama over Tulane, Southern Miss, North Alabama and UL-Monroe.
“I chose South Alabama because of my relationship with coach Applewhite and quarterbacks coach Zach Crisler,” Shamburger told Touchdown Alabama. “I decided to stay home. It’s closer to my family, and It’s my hometown.”
The South Alabama support staff and family ties played a crucial role in Shamburger staying home.
“I have been going to Jaguar games my entire life,” Shamburger said. “I have visited several times and my brother Alex (Shamburger) used to play there. The atmosphere is just amazing, student section is always going crazy and supporting.”
Coach Applewhite has a dynamic plan already in mind for the dual-threat quarterback. Shamburger recently ran a 4.44 40-yard dash and recorded a 41-inch vertical.
“He wants to develop me as an all-around quarterback, both pass and run game,” said Shamburger. “He wants to utilize my arm as much as my legs.”
