After initially announcing his return to the Gamecocks, South Carolina left handed pitcher Jackson Soucie has entered the transfer portal.
The 6-foot-4 left hander joined the Gamecocks as a transfer from Wabash Valley College last offseason. There he was 8-2 with a 2.18 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 70.1 innings pitched for the Warriors.
As a junior in 2025, Soucie appeared in 14 games with five starts. He was 3-1 with 32 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched this season. Soucie's best game came against University of South Carolina Upstate on Apr 8 where he threw 3.1 scoreless innings with a season high five strikeouts.
Soucie took to X to thank Gamecock nation. He will have one more year of eligibility remaining.

Soucie's entrance into the portal marks the 16th Gamecock to enter the portal since June 2. He joins infielder Henry Kaczmar, pitcher Brendan Sweeney, pitcher Ryder Garino, catcher Max Kaufer, pitcher Eli Jerzembeck, pitcher Tyler Pitzer, infielder (INF) Nolan Nawrocki, pitcher Eddie Copper III, OF/DH Jase Woita, INF Will Tippett, pitcher Wyatt Evans, pitcher Roman Kimball, outfielder (OF) Tyler June, and INF Cayden Gasken, and catcher Ryan Bakes.

Reported Micah Parsons Trade Cost Leaks
Micah Parsons wants a trade out of Dallas, but the team has no intention of honoring that request. Now entering the final year of his rookie contract, the former first-round pick has established himself as one of the game’s premier talents at his position. Since entering the league, the edge defender has recorded 52.5 sacks, 256 tackles, 112 quarterback hits, four Pro Bowls, and two First-Team All-Pro honors. Based on his age and performance history, he could easily reset the market for pass rushers, but Cowboys owner Jerry Jones seems unwilling to hand out that type of money. However, they also don’t want to send a star player off to a new organization. While the team has publicly said they refuse to trade him, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the team could send Micah Parsons away if they receive a “Hershel Walker-sized” return. Cowboys Micah Parsons Trade Price Leaks For those unfamiliar with the reference, the Hershel Walker trade was one of the most lopsided deals in history. In October of 1989, the Cowboys sent running back Hershel Walker and three draft picks to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for five players and six draft picks, including three first-round picks. Dallas used these selections to build the core of their three Super Bowl-winning squads in the 1990s. The NFL has changed quite a bit since those days, and no team would ever offer that type of return for any singular non-quarterback. However, the fact Dallas is even entertaining a Micah Parsons trade suggests they are willing to begin discussions on a more realistic return. Jerry Jones loves his drama, so perhaps this is just one big way to get more attention. However, if he truly wants to part ways with one of his franchise players, he should have 31 teams willing to negotiate.
Phillies get terrible injury news on ace starting pitcher
The Philadelphia Phillies received the update they did not want to hear on Saturday. Starting pitcher Zack Wheeler is going to miss the remainder of the 2025 season due thoracic outlet syndrome, the team announced. He will have surgery to correct the issue with a recovery time of six to eight months. There is no way to sugarcoat this for the Phillies — this is brutal news and a potentially crushing blow to their World Series chances in the National League. While they still have a strong rotation and two excellent front-line starters in Cristopher Sanchez and Ranger Suarez, Wheeler is their unquestioned ace and been one of the best overall pitchers in the National League since he joined the Phillies prior to the 2020 season. The Phillies are still pretty much a playoff lock at this point and entered the weekend with a six-game lead over the New York Mets in the National League East standings. But taking a front-line starter away from them this late in the season is going to be impossible to replace. With Wheeler, Sanchez and Suarez, they would have had a fierce trio to throw at teams in a short series (or a best-of-seven series) that could have stacked up with anybody. Sanchez and Suarez are still going to give them a great chance, but it's definitely not what they wanted. Prior to Saturday's announcement, Wheeler had a 2.71 ERA and was leading the league in both strikeouts (195) and strikeouts per nine innings (11.7) pitched. He also has the lowest WHIP (walks/hits per innings pitched) in the league (.935).
Browns have major injury concern on offense after starter exits game
The Cleveland Browns have a big concern on Saturday following an injury to a key part of the offensive line. The Browns played their starters against the Los Angeles Rams as a tune-up before the regular season. Per the NFL's website, center Ethan Pocic was ruled out of Saturday's game against the Rams when he suffered a knee injury. Via the NFL: "C Ethan Pocic suffered a knee injury against Los Angeles and will not return to the game. Pocic played eight snaps with starting quarterback Joe Flacco before exiting with his injury. Pocic was injured on a third-and-9 play in the first quarter when Rams defensive tackle Desjuan Johnson ran into his leg while he was engaged in a block on linebacker Brennan Jackson." Pocic's injury is a worry for the Browns ahead of their Week 1 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 7. The 2017 second-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks is a leader on Cleveland's offensive line. He's been with the Browns since 2022. Pocic has appeared in 101 games and started in 84 during his first eight years in the league. The upcoming season is important for the 30-year-old, as he's in the final year of the three-year, $18 million deal he signed in 2023. When Pocic came out of the game, the Browns inserted Luke Wypler in at center. The 2023 sixth-round pick has played in just five games in his career and has made one start. Wypler missed all of 2024 with an ankle injury that required surgery.

Kevin O'Connell bids farewell to Harrison Phillips, gives injury updates
Kevin O'Connell opened his press conference after Friday night's preseason finale in Tennessee by discussing the difficulty of trading away Harrison Phillips, a team captain who had started every single game for Minnesota over the past three seasons. "Did want to start out just talking about Harrison Phillips for a quick second," he said. "Obviously, a tough move to make considering just how impactful he's been to the Minnesota Vikings and our organization, on and off the field. First free agent we signed when Kwesi and I got here, and he was the first one we signed for a reason. The type of man he is, the type of teammate, the type of leader. "Moves like that are not made without a lot of thought. I got a chance to spend a lot of good time with Harrison, and I also had a chance to talk to (Aaron Glenn) and (Darren Mougey) in New York about the type of player they were getting. I know he'll have the same impact there, in a new regime there. As they build their culture up, Harrison Phillips will be great for it." The Vikings clearly felt Phillips was expendable due to the additions of Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave, as well as the progress shown by a wave of young defensive tackles on their roster. But to deal away an impact starter so close to the start of the season comes with some risk. Phillips' departure also creates a void of leadership, although O'Connell doesn't sound too concerned on that front. "The thing that you have to understand, in the (DT) room, acquiring veteran presences like JA and Grave, they've really been immediate impact players on and off the field," he said. "Guys that have sustained it and done it at a high level for a really long time. That doesn't go into the hard decision like that, as far as the leadership goes, but you do know that we've got some ascending players on our roster, offensively and defensively, that are ready to assume that void. We've gotta make sure we're on top of that because of his impact." Injury updates O'Connell also gave some updates on a few young players who got banged up in Friday's game. OLB Tyler Batty (right knee) will be evaluated via MRI. RB Zavier Scott (right ankle) had an early 23-yard run but then left the field limping on one of his next carries. DT Elijah Williams (right hamstring) is a candidate to make the roster in the wake of the Phillips trade, but he could also potentially begin the year on IR (designated to return) if he has a hamstring strain. All three of those players have impressed over the course of training camp.
