Rumors circulated on Wednesday that the Arkansas Razorbacks are expected to hire South Florida head coach Alex Golesh for another open coaching position.
As of now, these rumors have not been substantiated. However, Golesh has become a highly sought-after coach in the market. Over his three seasons at South Florida, he has posted a 22-15 record, including an impressive 8-3 mark this year. Prior to their loss to Navy two weekends ago, the Bulls were poised to be the Group of Five representative in the College Football Playoff.
South Florida bounced back with a 48-18 victory over UAB last weekend. However, it seems unlikely that they will make the playoffs for the first time in program history. Despite this, several teams are showing interest in their rising head coach.
On Wednesday, South Florida's CEO of Athletics, Rob Higgins, addressed the circulating social media rumors, reaffirming the university's commitment to its football program.
"Since Saturday’s game, Coach Golesh has been presented with outside opportunities that he has been transparent about with us," Higgins wrote. "We are respectful and supportive of Coach and his family in their decision-making process. We’ll remain in constant communication. Bulls Nation, rest assured, we are ultra-prepared for every scenario that could unfold in the coming hours/days. Our commitment and investment have never been higher, and we’re also laser-focused on being great stewards of our resources. Most importantly, the future of USF Football has never been more bright! Go Bulls!"

With interest intensifying and South Florida bracing for whatever comes next, the coming days could define Golesh’s trajectory. Whether he remains the architect of USF’s rise or steps into a new challenge, his decision will carry major implications across the coaching carousel.
For now, Golesh is getting his Bulls ready for their final regular season game as they take on the Rice Owls at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+ on Saturday.
