MMA fighter and former UFC title contender Stephen Thompson has claimed that Mike Tyson is ruining his legacy even further after deciding to box against Jake Paul. Tyson, who is 58 years old has been scheduled to fight a 27-year-old YouTuber and amateur boxer in a much-hyped fight on the 15th of November in Texas and this fight promises to generate millions of viewers.
At the peak of his career, Mike Tyson was arguably the most fearsome striker in the heavyweight discipline retiring from boxing in 2005. However, his decision to come back to the ring after almost two decades for the fight, and against a younger and fitter fighter like Paul will not sit well with many fans and analysts. Fellow Harold Thomspon voiced these concerns to talkSPORT, indicating that this individual fight can be very tough for the 58-year-old fighter, who is too old for the young Jake Paul. Jake’s streak of winning is not been broken till now.
Talking about the confrontation between Mike Tyson and his opponent, Stephan Thompson has said he does not think that at this age ‘he should be taking any damage or damaging his legacy’. The worst that could happen is that Thompson thinks that he will be beaten hard by young Jake and he will remember this worst fight for the rest of his life.
Then to the need to change tactics, Thompson was of the idea that he should shower in sparring rather than engage in actual fights at this stage in his life. He also revealed the advice he would offer if he were in his inner circle. These remarks indicate that US dollars might be coloring the fight’s professional assessment of the physical danger Mike Tyson is exposing himself to.
However, there is something that he did not know. The warning signs are flickering and he seems more than willing to step back into the ring. He did have some trouble with an ulcer flare-up earlier this year but Mike does not doubt for a moment that he can out-perform Paul. Mike Tyson believes he’s fit and ready to face Jake Paul despite his age and health. He acknowledged Paul’s speed but insisted that once he gets hold of him, it will be “game over.”
