'Sure Thing' Trey Moore Projected to Have 'All-American' Impact for Longhorns
Daniel Dunn-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Longhorns had one of the best transfer hauls in the country this offseason, bringing in difference-makers at just about every position of need, including four pass catchers on offense and help at safety, linebacker and defensive tackle.

However, their biggest addition might have been edge rusher Trey Moore, who ranked as the No. 3 edge rusher in the portal.

Not only does Moore come in at a massive position of need for Texas after the team struggled to rush the passer in 2023, but he also provides incredible versatility for the Horns up front, allowing players like Ethan Burke to move to a more natural fit at JACK alongside Barryn Sorrell.

In fact, Bleacher Report believes Moore is such a good fit in Austin, that they are predicting him to have an 'All-American' impact next season for the Horns.

"There are fewer "sure things" on this list than Trey Moore getting into the spotlight at the flagship school of the Lone Star State and making a name for himself," Bleacher Report wrote. "He likely was one of the top five (if not the top) defensive playmakers in the entire Group of Five at UTSA. Watch out for him to have an All-American-like impact. Yes, he's that good."

Moore, a native of Spring Branch, Texas, picked the Longhorns over pursuit from Ohio State and Alabama, among other high-profile programs via the NCAA Transfer Portal.

An absolute standout in every sense of the word for the Roadrunners, Moore helped lead UTSA to a 21-7 record over the last two seasons, setting school records in the process, and being named a Freshman All-American in his his redshirt freshman campaign.

In that season, Moore had 59 tackles, eight sacks, 18 tackles for loss and six passes defended, with two forced fumbles in 14 games. Those 18 TFLs were a program record.

However, Moore wasn't done there.

In 2023, he was arguably better, finishing with 45 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks, with an interception, three passes defended, and a forced fumble.

If he can have a similar impact in Austin, Texas should be in a good spot in their inaugural SEC run.
