Iga Swiatek, like many Swifties in the world, is eagerly waiting for Taylor Swift‘s The Life of a Showgirl, her 12th album. The I Hate It Here singer made the announcement of her new album on boyfriend Travis Kelce‘s New Heights podcast earlier this August.

Swifties all over the world have started to predict what the new album is going to be. Swiatek is no less excited. After lifting her 24th singles title at the Cincinnati Masters by beating Jasmine Paolini in straight sets, the Pole was asked about Swift’s new album during her interview with the Tennis Channel.

I’m excited. I think it’s great that she’s going to do something that I mean…she said herself that it’s going to be like catchy, and they said that every song is a hit, you know, so I’m super excited for that. And, Taylor is always doing amazing job. So anything that she’s going to release, I think it’s going to be great. And yeah, they looked great on the podcast. So, I don’t know, it’s just good to get that energy from Taylor and Travis. And yeah, we’ll see. I’m always excited.

Last year, after clinching her career’s fourth title at the Roland Garros, Swiatek received a handwritten letter from the I Can Do It With a Broken Heart singer-songwriter after she attended one of her Eras Tour concerts. The six-time Grand Slam champion won’t be able to enjoy the new songs until October 3, the day when Swift’s songs from TS12 will be released.

Iga Swiatek had no time to reflect on her career’s 11th WTA 1000 win as she wasted no time in heading to New York for the US Open, the main draw events of which start on Sunday (August 24th). But Swiatek and many other top players will be in action during the qualifying week: for the mixed doubles.

She will be playing alongside three-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud. Their match will start on Tuesday (August 19) against home favorites Madison Keys and Frances Tiafoe .

Oh my God, what a tournament…Super proud and happy. Now I’m just trying to make it to my flight do we can see each other at the @usopen tomorrow. I’ll try to reflect later.

Swiatek has played mixed doubles in Grand Slam events once- at the 2020 Australian Open. She had paired up with compatriot Lukasz Kubot, and they reached the quarterfinals and lost to Australia’s John-Patrick Smith and Astra Sharma.

Iga Swiatek becomes World No.2 once again

Swiatek failed to defend the five titles she won last year, including the French Open. As a consequence, she found herself in the eighth spot on the rankings table. But now, Swiatek is once again inching closer to reclaiming her No.1 ranking from Aryna Sabalenka.

Swiatek has removed Coco Gauff from the third spot after her victory at the Cincinnati Masters. Gauff’s run had ended with a three-set defeat to Paolini in the quarterfinals. The four-time Roland Garros champion, however, has to win a few more tournaments to become the World No.1 once again.

Sabalenka, on the back of seven finals (including at the Australian Open and the French Open) and three titles, sits comfortably at the top with 11,225 points. Swiatek and Gauff have 7,933 and 7,874, respectively.

In the singles at the US Open, Swiatek will be bidding to win her third title of the season. Before Cincinnati, she ended her title drought at Wimbledon by double-bageling America’s Amanda Anisimova. At Flushing Meadows, Swiatek will be aiming to double her title tally as she lifted the title in 2022 by beating Ons Jabeur.
