The spring sports season at TCU is underway as many teams had their first competitions over this past weekend, including the men's and women's swimming & diving teams. Both fell to Texas A&M in a meet that was held at the University Rec Center.

In the women's competition, held Friday, the Aggies won 176-116. In the men's competition, held Saturday, the Aggies won 175-125.

TCU Women's Swimming

TCU highlights in the pool included:

  • Nina Vadovicova won gold medals in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke with times of 1:03.65 and 2:17.49.
  • TCU placed second and third in the 200 Medley Relay. Tania Quaglieri, Vadovicova, Jeanne Dahmen, and Serena Gould had the second fastest time of 1:43.40.
  • Kara Church earned two silver medals including one in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:14.12.
  • Mikayla Popham placed second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.64. It was her third 2nd-place finish in this event this season. 
  • Quaglieri placed third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 0;55.44.
  • Olivia Rhodes won the 50 freestyle (0:23.33), her third first-place finish of the season, and placed third in the 100 freestyle (0:52.38.).

TCU Women's Diving

TCU highlights on the boards included:

  • Lauren Cey had a career-best 313.70 on the 1-meter board.
  • Anna Kwong placed second on the 3-meter board with a score of 319.55

TCU Men's Swimming

TCU highlights in the pool included:

  • Jadon Wuilliez won the 100 breaststroke (0:53.31). It was his second win in the event this season. He also earned an NCAA B Cut. Kito Camossato was second (0:54.22).
  • Edgar Cicanci, Wuilliez, Piotr Sadlowski, and Raphael Paiva Da Lima won the 200 medley relay for the first gold medal of the day with a time of 1:27.73.
  • Luke DiMiceli won the 200 freestyle (1:37.80). Milan Fabian was second (1:38.46).
  • Geremia Freri won the 200 butterfly (1:47.36).
  • Paiva Da Lima won the 50 freestyle (20.78).
  • Camossato won the 200 breaststroke (1:55.88) and earned an NCAA B Cut. 

TCU Men's Diving

TCU highlights on the boards included:

  • Oliver Cazaly earned a zone cut on the 3-meter board with a score of 321.30
  • Alec Hubbard finished fifth on the 1-meter board (294.85, a season-high for Hubbard). Landon McMonagle also had a season-high with a score of 230.00

Next up: Both teams travel to Ames, Iowa to face Iowa State on January 20. They will then travel to Austin for the Sterkel Classic on February 2-3.
