The first installment in what will be an inconsistent award from myself kicks off this week. While this is not a "real" award the players can show hardware from, it is one that comes with something better: an article forever on the internet about their fantastic week.
The inaugural season award ended with a close race between our winner, Sam Myers, and his freshman counterpart, Ryder Robinson.
Myers beat out Robinson in stats, finishing with five runs, seven hits, and 6 RBIs. More importantly, Myers delivered the walk-off hit on the Friday night matchup against USC, a win that tied the school record for wins to start a season.
The freshman has proved himself to be a valuable piece to the everyday lineup and one of the nation's top incoming players by being eighth in the country for freshmen with a .419 batting average.
