The "Ted Cruz Curse" appears to have struck again on Monday night.
If you're unaware, the longtime senator from Texas has been in attendance for several high-profile losses by his favorite teams in recent years. As a result, Cruz has been "blamed" for, among other failings, the Houston Astros' Game 7 ALCS defeat in 2023, Texas' College Football Playoff semifinal loss to Washington in January 2024, Texas Tech's national championship game loss to Virginia in 2019, the Houston Rockets' 27-straight missed three-pointers in an elimination Game 7 against the Golden State Warriors in 2018 and a host of other defeats.
Cruz was spotted inside the Alamodome in San Antonio on Monday to watch Houston take on Florida in the national title game. Of course, the Cougars built up a 12-point second half lead only to falter down the stretch and lose 65-63.
"U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has made an appearance at the Final Four championship game, despite fans claiming that when the Texas senator attends the game for the team he is rooting for, they are "cursed" and lose the game," the Houston Chronicle tweeted during the second half of last night's game.

As you might have expected, the responses to the Chronicle tweet did not disappoint.
"He did it again..." said Sooners Wire host John Williams.
"I am announcing my candidacy right now to primary this guy. My only campaign promise is not to let him curse another Texas team," another person wrote.
"Good god keep him far far away from Texas sports please!" a third person added.
"And the fans were once again correct," a Texas fan said.
"@tedcruz LEAVE. You are nothing but damn JINX. I can’t believe you did it again," another Longhorns fan chimed in.
Cruz is painfully aware of his reputation as a bad luck charm.
Following Texas' loss to Washington in the College Football Playoff 15 months ago, he took to social media to provide a list of major Texas sports victories he has attended over the years in an attempt to disprove the "curse."
"To all the dishonest press hacks blaming me for the Longhorn’s heartbreaking loss, ok—if you give me the WINS I’ve cheered on too! -Astros World Series 17 & 22 -SEVEN consecutive Astros ALCS -UT 06 Rose Bowl victory over USC -A&M beating Alabama in 21 -Rockets 94 Finals win," Cruz tweeted.
Unfortunately, he won't be able to add last night's game to that list.
