Tennessee Vols LHP Liam Doyle made a memorable appearance in UT's win against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the Knoxville Regional final earlier this week.
Doyle, who threw 104 pitches in the first game of the Knoxville Regional on Friday night against Miami (OH), pitched 2.1 shutout innings to close out the win against Wake Forest on Monday night.
One particular moment involving Doyle that went viral during the win over the Demon Deacons occurred in the top of the 8th inning when a Wake Forest hitter called timeout while facing a 1-2 count.
Doyle stalked around the mound, even waving his infielders off (for a meeting at the mound), before appearing to say, "you're f---ed" to the Wake Forest batter.
"LIAM DOYLE'S A MAD MAN!"

Rob Friedman, AKA the Pitching Ninja, asked Doyle about the moment.
"I might have said that -- because I feel like that's what he was, to be honest," said Doyle. "I feel like they wouldn't have taken the time out if he wasn't in trouble. But yeah, I had a lot of confidence going in. My fastball was definitely working as good as it has all season that night.
"I don't necessarily like when offenses take offensive timeouts. I know it's part of the game now, and I know even my own school does it sometimes, but as a pitcher, you're in the competitive moment. I feel like it doesn't really do anything but just take up more time. It's not going to throw me off my game. It's not going to do anything like that. It's just maybe even going to piss me off more. So I don't know why they always do that. But I feel like I find myself in that moment a lot. And in a Regional game, closing out, I was feeling really good that night. I was sitting like 98-99, I didn't think the hitter had a chance. So I told him that."
Doyle was correct. Wake Forest was...well, you know.
The Vols moved on to the Fayetteville Super Regional against the Arkansas Razorbacks thanks in large part to Doyle's performance.
Tennessee will likely need some more heroic moments from Doyle (and his teammates) in order to advance to the College World Series for a third straight season.
