Tennessee Vols among the programs being considered by elite 2025 edge rusher

The Tennessee Vols are one of the programs that 2025 four-star edge rusher Damien Shanklin is considering.

Shanklin, 6-foot-4/230 lbs from Indianapolis, IN, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 6 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Indiana. He's also rated as the No. 47 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

LSU, Texas, Ohio State, Alabama, and Michigan are also in the mix for Shanklin.

According to On3, Shanklin will announce his commitment on September 21.

“Tennessee I have a great relationship with Coach (Evan) Crabtree,” said Shanklin to On3. “Talking to them and just the atmosphere and game environment is very crazy.”

Shanklin is scheduled to take an official visit to Tennessee in mid June.

For now, LSU is viewed as the favorite for Shanklin.

A great official visit to Tennessee, however, could instantly vault the Volunteers to front of this recruiting battle.

Tennessee currently has nine players committed to its 2025 recruiting class, including four-star defensive lineman Ethan Utley.
