The Tennessee Vols announced on Wednesday that "Checker Neyland", one of the UT football program's newer traditions, will return in 2025.

Tennessee revealed that the Vols' home game against the Georgia Bulldogs on September 13 will be the "Checker Neyland" game for the 2025 season.

Additionally, Tennessee announced that the home game against the Arkansas Razorbacks on October 11 will be Champions Weekend.

Homecoming will take place against New Mexico State on November 15. And senior day will be November 29 against the Vanderbilt Commodores (the final home game of the regular season).

Tennessee's record in "Checker Neyland" games

The game against Georgia on September 13 will be the ninth "Checker Neyland" game in UT football history.

The relatively new tradition started (via a fan initiative) in 2014 when fans formed a checkered pattern in Neyland Stadium for the Vols' game against the Florida Gators (UT lost that game 10-9).

Tennessee is 4-4 in "Checker Neyland" games, with wins against Florida (2016, 2022, 2024) and Texas A&M (2023).

The Vols' four "Checker Neyland" losses came against Florida (2014), Oklahoma (2015), Georgia (2017), and Ole Miss (2021).

There were no "Checker Neyland" games during the Jeremy Pruitt era (2018 to 2020).

The kickoff time for Tennessee's matchup against Georgia on September 13 hasn't been announced yet.
