The Texas A&M Aggies are on the verge of a truly historic season for the program. They've set numerous records for their undefeated start to the 2025 season, including setting the record for the most points they've scored on the LSU Tigers in their victory over a bitter SEC foe on Saturday.
This undefeated start is one of the best in program history, and is the type of team that A&M fans have been begging for after years of overpromising and underdelivering. Given the results the Aggies have put out on the field, they are undoubtedly deserving of being as one of the best in the country.
After thoroughly ripping LSU to shreds on Saturday, I'm ready to say that the Aggies have virtually locked up a spot in the College Football Playoff, and at the rate they are playing at, I wouldn't be shocked if they earned a first-round bye.
With how unbelievably strong the SEC has been this season, I feel fairly confident in saying a 9-win team would get in to the College Football Playoff. A&M is just one win from that tally, and they play Missouri (who will be without their starting quarterback), South Carolina, Samford, and the Texas Longhorns to close out the season.
Barring a complete and total collapse by the Aggies after their bye week next week, they should win at least three of their last four games. With strong road wins over Notre Dame and LSU as well, A&M has a strong enough strength of record on top of a likely 10-plus win season that should comfortably put them in the College Football Playoff. If A&M continues their dominant level of play all year, we're staring at a potentially undefeated A&M squad entering the postseason.
In my opinion, LSU was their last hurdle to locking up a berth in the College Football Playoff. Obviously, A&M has to not completely faceplant over the last quarter of their schedule, but their record, level of play, and remaining schedule has me feeling pretty confident in their chances to finally make the College Football Playoff.
