The Big 12 handed out its 2025 softball awards just ahead of the conference tournament, and while multiple teams made noise on the ballots, Texas Tech, Arizona, and Baylor stood out above the rest.
Texas Tech ace NiJaree Canady and first-year head coach Gerry Glasco earned two of the league’s most prestigious honors, while Arizona’s Devyn Netz was named Player of the Year, and Baylor brought home both the Defensive Player and Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards.
Here’s a full look at the Big 12’s individual award winners for 2025.
Netz was a two-way machine for the Wildcats, holding down a .347 average with 58 RBIs—the second most in the league—while also logging 133.0 IP. The Sierra Madre native notched 20 wins with a 2.00 ERA after missing the 2024 season with an injury.
Canady was nearly untouchable this season, leading the nation with a 0.89 ERA and earning 16 Big 12 wins. Her 237 strikeouts ranked second in the league, and her 7.41 strikeout-to-walk ratio was fourth-best in the country. A unanimous choice for this honor.
Brittingham was a force from day one in Provo. She led the Big 12 in both home runs (20) and RBIs (67), and posted a 1.263 OPS across 47 games. Her 130 total bases ranked among the top 15 nationally.
Pilon was a rock at second base for the Bears, posting a .987 fielding percentage and playing a role in 18 of Baylor’s 28 double plays. She’s the first Baylor player to win this honor since 2017.
Govan not only hit a league-best .453 in Big 12 play, she also posted a 4.0 GPA in Baylor’s public health master’s program. She becomes the first player to earn the conference’s new batting champion honor.
In his first year at the helm, Glasco led Texas Tech to its first-ever Big 12 title and a 42-12 overall record. The Red Raiders posted a 20-4 mark in conference play and head to OKC with real momentum.
Arizona and Texas Tech each landed four First Team picks, while those two—along with Arizona State—also had three players each on the Second Team. Baylor, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech each placed two players on the All-Defensive Team.
