The Texas Longhorns are recruiting well on the defensive side of the ball.
In particular, the Longhorns are trending for several of the nation's top defensive linemen for 2026. Over the weekend, Texas received commitments from four-star defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland and five-star edge Richard Wesley. The duo is now the two highest rated defensive players in Texas' class.
An expert recruiting prediction was also entered over the weekend in favor of Texas to land four-star defensive lineman Kendall Guervil. On3's Chad Simmons predicted the Longhorns to land Guervil with a 60% confidence level.
Guervil is ranked the No. 12 defensive lineman and No. 14 overall prospect in Florida for the 2026 recruiting class, according to On3's industry ranking.

Guervil took an official visit to Texas on June 20 and previously took official visits to Georgia, Florida and Florida State. He currently has a commitment date set for July 2.
"Coach Baker is a great coach and he has been recruiting me as hard as anyone. He came down to see me twice in the spring and I really like the way he coaches. Texas has done a lot of things right with me. I like how they recruit me, their defense is top notch and they can develop players. I like a lot about Texas," Guervil told On3.
Texas currently has the No. 9 recruiting class in the nation.
