Round 12 of Super Rugby Pacific offers its main attraction as the Brumbies-Waratahs derby precedes the important Wellington contest between the Hurricanes and Chiefs.
Within Round 12 of Super Rugby Pacific, the national competition between Canberra and Sydney reaches its peak because the Brumbies confront their Sydney-based rivals, the Waratahs, at their Canberra Stadium home.
The Brumbies maintain their ranking in the third position before their game with the Waratahs in Canberra, where the Waratahs have experienced seven straight losses in the territory.
The Hurricanes face major challenges after their Australian tour success because they must match skills with the top-ranked Chiefs, who must navigate through the absence of two key assets, Damian McKenzie and Anton Lienert-Brown.
"We’re excited for the game this weekend; the Chiefs are at the top of the table, and we know what sort of challenge that will present," said Laidlaw, the Hurricanes coach, in a press conference.
The Reds will confront Drua in Fiji while holding the position right behind the Brumbies. Newly appointed head coach Les Kiss directs his attention toward team concentration while preparing his squad for the upcoming competition.
"We go to Fiji on Saturday and do a job there. I'll just be going back and doing what I can on a weekly basis, on a daily basis, to build something that's special,” Kiss said in a team news release.
The Blues welcome the Western Force at Eden Park as they fight to keep their faint playoff opportunities alive while defending their championship title. Kurtley Beale returns to The Force, although they continue to experience troubles in their matches at New Zealand stadiums.
Moana Pasifika starts their Saturday match against the Highlanders this week in a quest to claim their signature victory against their opponent.
The combination of a Moana win coupled with a Force defeat would generate playoff positions for Moana as the competition approaches its last games.
