With all three preseason games wrapped up, the Cleveland Browns reportedly made four cuts on Sunday as they whittle down their roster to the final 53 — including one player who will no longer be a part of the team's QB room.

The Browns face a lot of decisions ahead of the NFL's Week 1 deadline but got a decent amount of transactions out of the way this weekend by waiving 17 players, per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Those players being:

  • CB Chigozie Anusiem
  • TE Sal Canella
  • OG Javion Cohen
  • OT Sebastian Gutierrez
  • DE K.J. Henry
  • DT Ralph Holley
  • CB Christian Holmes
  • CB Keenan Isaac
  • OT Jason Ivey
  • DE Titus Le
  • LB Marvin Moody
  • CB Darius Rush
  • LB Charlie Thomas III
  • OT Lorenzo Thompson
  • OG Dartanyan Tinsley
  • TE Mitchell Van Vooren
  • C Bucky Williams

Browns make 4 cuts

As for the players Kevin Stefanski, Andrew Berry and the Browns decided to outright say goodbye to this afternoon, four players unfortunately will be looking for work heading into Week 1 of the regular season.

According to Schefter, offensive lineman Jackson Barton, cornerback Tony Brown II, quarterback Tyler Huntley and safety Nik Needham were all let go ahead of the start of next week's practices.

Huntley had been brought in when injuries started to pile up for Cleveland's quarterbacks earlier this month and he even saw time in the team's final two-minute drill over Shedeur Sanders.

Huntley has started 14 games between stints with the Ravens and Dolphins over his first five years and even made a Pro Bowl in 2022 (albeit a controversial one).

What does this mean?

While the Browns roster still needs to be finalized its looking increasingly likely that the organization will carry four quarterbacks into season opener — meaning Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur would all make the team.

That would be relatively unheard of in the current landscape of the NFL where active bodies are at a premium, but it's seems to be something the Browns are comfortable with.

Shedeur's brother Shilo, a safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was recently waived by the team after throwing a punch and getting ejected from last night's game vs. the Buffalo Bills.

We'll see where Shedeur's fate lies, but the fifth-round QB maintains that he'll "obviously" be a member of the Browns moving forward. Sanders signed a four-year, $4.3 million rookie contract on May 19 (via Spotrac).
