The Crow star Bill Skarsgård pulled some wild stunts during filming - including throwing himself naked into a huge tank of oil.

According to the film’s director Eric Draven, Skarsgård was more than happy to go above and beyond for the upcoming gothic thriller. "After 40 days of night shoots, there was this big tank of black oil,” Draven tells Total Film.

“I said, 'Bill, you wouldn’t like to get in there and thrash around naked for us, would you?’ And he was like, 'Sure!' and jumped straight in."

The footage captured of Skarsgård drenched head to toe in dark oil is part of the opening title sequence. You can see a brief shot of it at 2:26 in The Crow trailer below. From his expression, Skarsgård doesn’t appear to be enjoying himself.

The Crow reimagines the graphic novel by James O'Barr. It follows soulmates Eric Draven and Shelly Webster. Following Shelly’s brutal murder, Eric sacrifices his own life to become a spirit of vengeance, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead in a quest to rescue her.

The Crow hits theaters on August 23, 2024. That’s not the only performance the actor went above and beyond for. The “evil” Nosferatu role took a toll on Bill Skarsgard.
