The Dolphins are reportedly hosting a 2026 NFL Draft sleeper whose Pro Day numbers blew the doors off the rest of the class

According to Ryan Fowler, and later confirmed by others, the Miami Dolphins are hosting Louisville defensive tackle Rene Konga on a pre-draft visit ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Konga is a transfer from Rutgers who has posted 50 pressures in the last two seasons as a member of the Cardinals’ defensive front. He posted some eye-popping numbers at his Pro Day in late March, including a 37″ vertical jump, a 10’02” standing broad jump and a 40-yard dash time that was reported as low as the high 4.7s range. Both jumps would have been tops at the 2026 NFL Combine by defensive linemen. The 40-time would have been top-3. All of this at a weight of 298 pounds. It makes Konga a fascinating bet to place for his explosiveness as a player. That explosiveness is evident on the tape, even if it isn’t shown with consistency.

The Miami Dolphins’ current construction at defensive tackle does feel to be missing an explosive pass rush presence. The team investing a pre-draft visit on Konga is notable. If his NFL team can get more consistency, he could fill the role Miami needs. He’s currently projected as a mid-Day 3 target. The Pro Day numbers could help juice him further up the board on draft weekend. Miami will certainly have their fair share of swings to get him. Whether they will or not? That’s a different story.
