So, you’ve decided to dive into the murky past of Elden Ring Nightreign’s resident goth, the Undertaker. Brace yourselves because this side quest is a deep, dark journey into what makes this mysterious Nightfarer tick. This guide will take you through the three trials of the Undertaker’s Remembrance quest line in the Forsaken Hollows DLC.
The Undertaker is an interesting character in Elden Ring Nightreign. She may look like a standard goth merchant, but there is a world of power that she possesses. With strong combat skills and damage-triggered special attacks, the Undertaker is a force to be reckoned with. The addition from the Forsaken Hollows DLC allows fans to take a glimpse into this mysterious woman’s past.
The Remembrance quests in Nightreign are unique side stories that let you relive key moments from each Nightfarer’s past. For the Undertaker, this means confronting old ghosts and uncovering the secrets buried deep within. By completing this quest line, players can unlock essential and seriously cool rewards such as powerful relics and a slick new outfit.
When you unlock the Undertaker after completing the Tricephalos Expedition, go about expeditions to build her skills and stats. Keep going until you unlock Chapter 3 of her journal, and then you will be able to begin the Undertaker’s Rememberance Quest.
Once you’ve unlocked Journal Chapter 3, your first Remembrance quest pits you against your fellow Nightfarers for an all-out ballroom blitz. The fights will come in waves, and each will need a certain attack to knock them on their butts. Your prize for beating up your friends is the Leather Monocle Case, a useful and very dapper Remembrance Relic.
Once you leave the Nightfarers shindig, you’re going to continue leveling up on expeditions to unlock Chapter 5 in the journal. This second remembrance quest is a search-and-rescue sort of deal because the Scholar got himself lost in The Great Hollows. He was smart enough to mark his location on the designed map, but the journey ain’t for the faint of heart.
Now, the final remembrance quest is associated with beating a Night Aspect boss called Heolster the Nightlord. Pre-prep for this battle requires you to play as the Undertaker (obviously) and make sure your pouch has an empty slot for the post-battle reward. Heolster is going to be a long fight because this creature has two phases. Once you defeat the boss, you will be transported to an alternate version of the Roundtable Hold with a new item in your pouch called the Dismembered Finger.
THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT, CRITICAL STEP!!! When you enter the building and see a sitting withered corpse, DO NOT TOUCH IT YET!!! Approach the body, but then drop the Dismembered Finger in front of the body. The Undertaker will utter, “This will do… I’m sure,” giving you the go-ahead to touch the corpse. This will lead to a cutscene and the completion of the remembrance quest! When you reach the keep, you’ll be rewarded with a Glass Necklace relic, the Remembrance skin, and Journal Chapter 7.
To those who did not heed my warning! If you touch the corpse WITH the Dismembered Finger still on you, the expedition will come to an end, BUT the remembrance quest will remain incomplete. This will be a major setback! You will have to repeat the expedition all over again to get the remembrance quest requirement right. That is a major headache to do because of one detail, so please! Drop the finger!
