The Detroit Lions have become one of the most popular teams in the National Football League.

When Dan Campbell's squad started their turnaround back in 2022, players from other Detroit sports teams showed their support.

Members of the Lions are regularly attending Tigers, Wings and Pistons games as well.

Appearing on 97.1 The Ticket, Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson expressed he upset his family during the NFC Championship Game.

Historically, the San Francisco 49ers have been an organization that has had success, winning multiple Super Bowls and being part of several historic games and memorable plays.

Several local media members even stopped supporting the Lions, due to all their struggles and adopted the 49ers as the team to follow back in the 80's and 90's.

For Torkelson, being in a room full of 49ers' fans did not deter him from supporting the Lions

The emerging slugger told the Tigers flagship station, “The last game they played was against my all-time favorite team the 49ers and I had a lot of family members not really happy with me because I was watching the game in a Goff jersey rooting for Detroit.”

In a recent podcast appearance, Tigers manager AJ Hinch reiterated just how supports fans in Detroit are of the local teams.

"I love what the Lions have done, that organization, for the city. The fans showed up and supported this team, just like they did us down the stretch as we guided Miguel Cabrera into retirement," Hinch said on The Show podcast. "The fans are incredible in Detroit. If you talk to people, players, coaches, managers, that have come to Detroit, incredible sports town, incredible support of the local teams."
