Top 4 Bol Bol Free Agent Landing Spots

The 2025 NBA free agency has seen a lot of players witness a change of scenery, featuring some noteworthy names also joining new teams. However, among these are the free agents that haven't been able to find a place on a roster yet, with former Phoenix Suns big man Bol Bol standing out as an example.

Bol Bol has had a tough time setting a stable footing in the NBA. While he is undoubtedly an extremely gifted player, featuring impressive physical assets and a versatile skill set befitting a unicorn, he hasn't been able to firmly cement his position as a key rotation piece on any team.

The 2024-25 campaign marked his sixth season in the NBA. With the Suns, Bol only played 12.4 minutes per game. Even in a limited capacity, the 25-year-old demonstrated his ability to contribute by posting an average of 6.8 points and 2.9 rebounds, on shooting splits of 52.5% from the field, 34.4% from three-point range, and 71.1% from the charity stripe.

In a greater capacity, the big man has showcased the potential to be more productive, as witnessed during his one-year stint with the Orlando Magic. With this in mind, we explore four potential landing spots for the 25-year-old where he could be a significant contributor.

Golden State Warriors

One of the teams that could certainly benefit from the addition of a big man at this stage in the offseason is the Golden State Warriors. After a significant period marked by inactivity, the Dubs need to make some signings to proceed with their roster-building efforts.

The primary concern with the Warriors has been their ongoing negotiation efforts with Jonathan Kuminga. The Dubs' offseason signings have reportedly been held up by these discussions, but considering that they have reached a grinding halt, Golden State may need to revisit their approach.

The Dubs are reported to have verbal agreements in place with three targets, including a solid veteran big man in Al Horford. While signing the former NBA champion could help build their overall strength, the Warriors would need additional reinforcements.

In this regard, Bol Bol could prove to be a valuable asset. When considering the Warriors' present big man rotation featuring Quinten Post and Trayce Jackson-Davis, Bol offers much more flexibility as a player, while also bringing more experience to the table.

As a mobile floor-spacing big man with shot-blocking ability, Bol could make Post and Jackson-Davis redundant, giving the Warriors more trade chips to help facilitate future roster upgrades. Overall, this fills out the team's big man rotation while simultaneously allowing the 25-year-old to contribute to winning.

Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings could also prove to be an interesting landing spot for Bol Bol. After a disappointing end to their 2024-25 campaign, the Kings are expected to make some changes. But the current iteration of the team looks far from being competitive, especially in the context of the Western Conference.

One of the biggest issues Sacramento faced last season was finding a reliable supporting option for their star big man, Domantas Sabonis

Given Sabonis' influence on the game, it has proven to be a challenge to match his contributions. Although the Kings have done a solid job by acquiring Drew Eubanks on a veteran's minimum to shore up their big man rotation, it isn't enough.

In this regard, signing Bol Bol to a team-friendly contract may give them a lot more flexibility on both ends of the floor. Bol's versatile offensive skill set gives him the freedom to operate in a variety of situations. Whether it's in transition or in a traditional half-court set, the 25-year-old could bolster the overall bench strength if given the opportunity.

A move like this would be the first step in helping the Kings improve next season. Considering that they are also linked to free agents such as Russell Westbrook, Sacramento could be looking at a significant roster overhaul in due time.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers were among the few teams in the offseason that explicitly mentioned their need to address shortcomings in their frontcourt rotation. While the addition of Deandre Ayton has aided this process, the Lakers could still look to add more flexibility to their team.

Ayton is positioned as an athletic, high-efficiency big man who can operate in pick-and-roll sets next to Luka Doncic and LeBron James. Given how specific Ayton's skill set is, the Purple and Gold could look to add some variety to their roster by signing Bol Bol.

The 25-year-old center is an athletic player with unique floor spacing and shot-creating attributes. At 7'3" tall, there are very few big men in the league, especially off the bench, who can effectively stay in front of Bol. The Lakers could leverage such qualities when constructing their roster and developing their lineups.

Bol's addition would create some conflict with the roles of Jaxson Hayes and Maxi Kleber in the rotation. But considering Kleber's repeated mention in trade rumors, the Purple and Gold may opt for an athletic seven-footer on the roster instead.

Charlotte Hornets

Unlike the first three teams mentioned in the list, the Charlotte Hornets weren't a very competitive team last season. However, with some talented players on the roster, the Hornets could certainly stun some teams in the East by making the right additions.

Signing Bol Bol in free agency could be a wise move for Charlotte. With the departure of Mark Williams, the Hornets have seen a significant drop-off in their big man rotation. Currently featuring Moussa Diabate and rookie Ryan Kalkbrenner, the Hornets could do with some reinforcements.

Diabate has positioned himself as a solid primary big man option for the Hornets. But when comparing physical tools and potential, Bol might actually be able to break into the starting rotation to play alongside LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges.

On the Hornets, Bol would have much more freedom to develop as a player, and with an exciting talent like Ball, he could be on the receiving end of some highlight reel-worthy passes, too. Although the 25-year-old isn't going to move the needle for Charlotte, he would certainly make them an entertaining team to watch.

Will Bol Bol Be In The League Next Season?

Bol Bol being a free agent this late into the offseason is rather odd. Considering the testimony he received from Shaquille O'Neal, who has compared the 25-year-old to Victor Wembanyama, Bol still finds himself without a team.

The general criticism has been that Bol possesses a weak frame for his size, and his lack of coordination made it a challenge for the Suns to figure out a place for him on the roster.

The 25-year-old still presents himself as an intriguing prospect for any team willing to take a chance. But given the limited avenues at this stage, Bol may find himself playing basketball in a different environment in the upcoming season.
