Thousands of players transferred during the offseason with hopes of making an immediate impact at their new school. Several did during Week 0 action, but below was the top FBS transfer performance from Saturday.
While the outcome of the game remained in doubt throughout, which wasn’t the start the Rebels wanted against FCS Idaho State, the outcome was a 38-31 victory. One huge bright spot was the play of Colandrea, who solidified the starting job for now after completing 15 of 21 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown. On top of that he also rushed for 93 yards on 13 caries.
Coming into the game, it was known that Colandrea and another transfer quarterback, Alex Orji (Michigan) would split carries. However, new head coach Dan Mullen seemed much more comfortable with Colandrea on the field, as he dominated the snap count.
Overall, the Rebels need to play better, especially on defense, if they hope to have a positive season. But the offense looks very capable with Colandrea leading the unit.
Others who were considered:
WR Cam Pickett (Kansas/Ball State): 6 receptions for 77 yards and 2 TD
QB Maverick McIvor (Western Kentucky/Abilene Christian): 33 of 51 for 401 yards and 3 TD; one rushing touchdown
WR Matthew Henry (Western Kentucky/Western Illinois); 7 receptions for 148 yards and 1 TD
