1. LB Andrew Simpson – Boise State

Simpson was a productive defensive playmaker during his three seasons with the Broncos. Totaling 141 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, three interceptions and five forced fumbles, he is a difference maker at the linebacker position. North Carolina, USC and Miami have been under consideration. Everything has gone silent regarding his decision, but the Tar Heels remain the favorite.

2. LB Mohamed Toure – Rutgers

While injuries, which have cost him the 2022 and 2024 seasons, have slowed his career, when healthy he has been very productive. In his last two seasons, in 2021 and 2023, he totaled 144 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and nine tackles for loss. This was shaping up to be a battle between Miami and Penn State, but since then he has also taken a visit to Indiana and next will visit North Carolina.

3. S Gregory Smith III – Florida

Smith redshirted as a true freshman during the 2024 season. He did play in five games, finishing with five tackles and one pass deflection, but that was more than enough to gain plenty of attention in the portal. At 6-foot-3, 211-pounds, Smith can bring the wood while showing the athleticism to make him a terror in the secondary. This seemed to be down to Miami and North Carolina, but a recent visit to Purdue may change things. He had an in-home visit with the Tar Heels on Tuesday night.

4. OL Andre Roye Jr. – Maryland

A 6-fooot-6, 294-pound redshirt sophomore, Roye started seven games at left tackle during the 2024 season. This was after he redshirted in 2022 and then saw the field for six games during the 2023 season. While he doesn’t possess an abundance of experience, he showed enough during his seven games last season to gain the attention of several programs across the country. While his process has been quiet, some of the schools that are involved include Colorado, Baylor, Florida State, Rutgers and Louisville.

5. CB Delvon Gulley – Alabama A&M

At 6-foot-1, 185-pounds, Gulley was an FCS Freshman All-American during the 2024 season after totaling 29 tackles, two interceptions and four pass deflections with the Bulldogs. He has already taken a visit to Alabama and most recently to UAB, while also garnering interest from schools like Iowa, Liberty, UConn, Virginia and NC State.
