It was a crazy three-hour ride for Michigan football and Georgia commit Brady Marchese. The four-star WR took a surprise official visit to Ann Arbor two weekends ago, and the visit went over well. Following the OV, the Wolverines started picking up traction in his recruitment. Then on Tuesday -- everything happened.
There were multiple predictions placed in favor of Michigan landing the speedster -- including from On3's Steve Wiltfong. But that changed quickly. In a three-hour time span, Marchese told On3's Hayes Fawcett that he had shut his recruitment down and he was staying committed to Georgia.

There are a few things that could have happened here for Michigan to suddenly miss out on the 6-foot-1, No. 250-ranked player in the 2026 cycle. Either the intel wasn't strong, but that's hard to believe with Wiltfong on top of everything. The Wolverines weren't recruiting Marchese as hard as he had hoped for, or someone at Georgia gave the No. 42 overall WR in the '26 class a deal that was too hard to pass up.
We may never know the answer, but that was one of the craziest three hours you will see regarding a flip candidate. Assuming Marchese is now all in with UGA, Michigan will look elsewhere to add more WRs to the class.

Canucks Eye Popular Young Center as Second-Line Option
The Vancouver Canucks entered the offseason with a clear goal: add a second-line center to strengthen their top-six forward group. That objective, however, has yet to be realized and it’s looking more and more like they’re going to be stuck heading into the season with what they have. Trade activity across the NHL has been slow, and the Canucks have shown minimal interest in remaining unrestricted free agents, including Jack Roslovic. That leaves few options left, but Patrick Johnston of The Province notes there might be one long-shot option still on the table. “It’ll be expensive, but it will also be very expensive not to get one,” president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford said in April. The player Johnston hints Vancouver might be looking at is Anaheim Ducks center and unsigned RFA Mason McTavish. To date, Vancouver’s two bigger offseason additions have been wingers who don’t address the second-line center vacancy — Evander Kane and defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph. That has placed a young, talented center Mason McTavish on the Canucks’ radar. The 22-year-old is viewed as a potential top-six contributor with the ability to slot in between Kane and Conor Garland. The problem is, no one seems to know what’s going on between McTavish and the Ducks. There is interest from multiple teams should Anaheim entertain trade offers, but the Ducks want to get McTavish signed. The sticking point is term as GM Pat Verbeek isn’t keen on going long term yet. McTavish wants what he feels he’s earned based on comparables in a rising salary cap environment. Could the Canucks Land McTavish? Things are cordial between the Ducks and the McTavish camp, but for how long remains to be seen. It was reported McTavish tried to get an offer sheet, but to no avail. Now, he waits. This situation can’t drag out much longer before questions are asked about his future there. The Canucks can, and will be ready. However, as Rutherford mentioned, the organization is aware that acquiring and signing McTavish will be an expensive decision. They’ll have to give up key pieces in a trade, plus also make a contract offer that McTavish feels inclined to sign. There is little to suggest anything on this front is imminent. Unless the Canucks make a move during training camp or the preseason, their projected lineup appears set. Elias Pettersson would center Brock Boeser and Jake DeBrusk on the first line, while Chytil would take the second-line center role between Kane and Garland, with Raty likely centering the third line.
Dolphins agree to deal with one-time Super Bowl champ
Frequent communication between Rasul Douglas and the Miami Dolphins has produced a deal. The veteran cornerback is headed to Miami on a one-year contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. This pact is worth $3M, Rapoport adds. A notable role in the secondary should await Douglas upon arrival, despite the timing of this agreement. Cornerback has been an area of need all offseason, and the Dolphins somewhat surprisingly cut Mike Hilton on Monday. Hilton expected to wind up in Miami this offseason, but after arriving, he did not spend much time practicing with the starting defense. His release came about after Kendall Fuller was cut in the spring, a move that was eventually followed by the Jalen Ramsey trade. Kader Kohou and Artie Burns have since suffered season-ending injuries, leading to increased concern about the secondary for 2025. Douglas will aim to provide Miami with a veteran starting presence over the coming campaign. The soon-to-be 30-year-old has been on the Dolphins’ radar for much of the offseason, so this agreement comes as little surprise. Douglas was dealt from the Packers to the Bills midway through the 2023 campaign, and he handled starting duties with Buffalo. No new Bills accord was worked out, however, and Douglas made it known earlier this offseason that he did not foresee a return to Green Bay. Those factors pointed further to a Miami accord being worked out at some point, and with training camp and the preseason now finished, that has proven to be the case. Douglas has 80 starts and 120 appearances to his name, and he totaled 14 interceptions from 2021 to 2023. He was held without a pick last season, but the Dolphins would welcome a return to form from the former third-rounder. A strong campaign would help Miami’s defense for 2025 while also preventing a free agent from staying deep into August next offseason.
Key Darian Kinnard Trait Drew Packers to Trade for Super Bowl Winner
Darien Kinnard has won a Super Bowl each of the past three seasons, but that isn’t the only reason the Packers acquired the veteran offensive lineman in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles this past weekend. While general manager Brian Gutekunst, head coach Matt LaFleur, and the Packers obviously would love to see Kinnard’s streak continue with the Lombardi Trophy returning to Green Bay, it was a key trait that sparked the trade. Kinnard’s versatility was a major drawing card for Green Bay, according to Packers reporter Mike Spofford. “Typical of offensive line prospects who interest the Packers,” Spofford writes, for the team’s official website. “Kinnard can play multiple positions. In the recently completed preseason with the Eagles, he played both right guard and right tackle, with more snaps coming at guard. “He also took some snaps at left guard in practice, according to media reports out of Philadelphia.” Kinnard’s versatility gives the Packers the chance to add quality depth across multiple positions, including as an insurance policy if Rasheed Walker or Jordan Morgan fail to perform at a high level at right tackle in the weeks ahead. The 25-year-old played 68 snas at right tackle last season and only allowed one sack, so perhaps the Packers believe he’s capable of providing some stability, when needed, during the upcoming season and beyond.

This is such an interesting time for the Detroit Lions and the NFL. There are so many players who are being cut and looking for a new team. As we know, the Lions plan to be on the lookout for players who aren't currently in the building. With that in mind, we've been keeping an eye on all the cuts happening and have 10 players who would be perfect fits for the Lions. Here they are: Edge Nelson Ceasar The Lions had an interest in Ceaser and even met with him ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. Ultimately, they didn't draft him, and he wound up signing with the Seahawks. He's bounced around in the NFL and UFL since. Now the Lions have a chance to take a closer look. Ceaser is not your big answer to the edge rusher questions you might have for this team, but he's an intriguing practice squad prospect worth taking a look at. QB Kyle McCord This one is one the Lions should be all over before any other team gets to him. The rookie got drafted by the Eagles in April, and they just did not need him. McCord could be way better off in Detroit with a great cast of quarterback whisperers and more opportunities to get over. McCord is just 22 years old. This is a chance for the Lions to take a prospect who was pretty good at Syracuse last year and grow him into a potential premium backup quarterback. Maybe more. CB Steven Gilmore The former Lions cornerback looked like someone who was going to have a bright future when he made the 53-man roster in 2023. Then he had a rough summer in 2024 and was cut. After a solid spring in the UFL, he was signed by the Cardinals. They cut him on Monday, and now he's back out there. The Lions could use some cornerback depth right now, and Gilmore could be good for that. Detroit could bring him in on the practice squad and see where things go. DL Kyle Peko The Lions had some hopes that Peko could be a strong interior defensive line depth for them last year, and they had him on the 53-man roster. It was going well until he suffered a season-ending pectoral injury in Week 6. He spent the summer with the Patriots, but was released after their final preseason game. He would be a good veteran addition to the practice squad. TE Zach Kuntz The Lions spent a lot of time looking at tight ends this offseason, and I'm not sure they really ever found the guy they were looking for. Kenny Yeboah might have been that, but he got hurt, and then rookie Zach Horton didn't really turn out to be ready to go like it seemed like he might be early on. Kuntz is a solid blocking tight end who also has red zone catching ability that's worth taking a look at. Edge Jah Joyner Another young edge rusher who would be worth taking a look at. Joyner just didn't fit with the Raiders, but working with Kacy Rodgers might be a good defensive line coach to learn under for the former Minnesota pass rusher. This would be another practice squad guy. QB Tommy DeVito The Lions are pretty likely to be on the lookout for a practice squad quarterback since it seems pretty clear that Hendon Hooker won't be back in any way. DeVito has starting experience, and there's likely to be a lot of teams interested. If he clears waivers, this one might be worth taking a look at. TE Greg Dulich Here's a guy who could be on the Lions' 53-man roster as the TE3. Dulich is a stronger pass blocker than Shane Zylstra, and he can also be a strong receiving tight end. He caught three touchdown passes in the preseason this summer. There should be a lot of teams looking to claim him, so the Lions might be out of luck, but if they put a claim out there, you never know.
