Toronto Raptors Sign New Guard
USA TODAY Sports

Darryl Morsell played five seasons of college basketball (four for Maryland and one for Marquette).

During his final season, Morsell averaged 13.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 44.6% from the field and 34.7% from the three-point range in 31 games for the Golden Eagles.

Despite his strong season, he went unselected in the 2022 NBA Draft last summer.

On Friday, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet reported that Morsell had signed a deal with the Toronto Raptors (h/t Hoops Rumors).

Via Murphy: "The Raptors have signed Raptors 905 wing Darryl Morsell to an Exhibit 10 deal.

He'll be in camp with the team and get the Ex10 bonus if/when he's waived and re-joins Raptors 905."

This past year, Morsell played in the G League and averaged 8.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest while shooting 43.1% from the field and 24.0% from the three-point range in 30 regular season games (he also appeared in 14 Showcase Cup games).

Based on the information from Murphy, Morsell will likely end up back with Raptors 905 (G League) at the start of the 2023-24 season.

As for the Raptors, they are coming off a year where they were the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 41-41 record.

They lost to the Chicago Bulls in the play-in tournament, so they missed the NBA playoffs for the second time in three seasons.

The franchise won the 2019 NBA Championship, but has only been able to win one playoff series since their title.
