Transformers One is a surprise hit with critics, and there might be more where that came from.
The actor who voices Bumblebee in the animated movie, Keegan Michael-Key, has expressed his keenness to reprise his role in future instalments.
“I had an absolute blast working on this movie and working with the director who I've worked with before,” he exclusively tells Men’s Journal. “If they made four more of these, I'd want to be in all of them. You know, if they make one more of these, I'd want to be in it.”
Transformers One currently has an impressive 98% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and an 89% critic score. That easily outdoes last year’s live-action Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which managed just 51% from critics (although fans were still on board with a combined 91%).
So, why is Transformers One proving such a success? “I think nostalgia is one reason, certainly,” says Michael-Key. “People who are familiar with the franchise and the story and the world are really looking forward to seeing what the origins of these characters and their drives and their desires are.”

Transformers One tells the origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron. Before they were sworn enemies, they were friends, and between them they changed the fate of Cybertron forever. Michael-Key also pays tribute to another aspect of the film.
“I think the world building is amazing. It’s visually stunning and they can do more. They can actually create this world, because the entire movie takes place on Cybertron, and there are no humans in the movie. So this was the perfect format to to express this particular chapter of the franchise yeah.”
As for more chapters, Bumblebee is on board.
