Former Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter didn't wait long in the green room during last week's 2025 NFL Draft. The No. 2 overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars made history as the highest cornerback taken and second-highest receiver in NFL history.
Given Hunter's status as a true two-way player and a top-five pick, he'll lidefikely get a record rookie contract in the neighborhood of $50-45 million over the next four years. Most of that could be guaranteed upfront.
Hunter is projected to sign a four-year contract worth approximately $46.5 million and containing a $30.5 million signing bonus, according to Spotrac. However, this is built off the projected model of draft picks compared to past drafts with market adjustments. The fact Hunter will be playing two positions might bring in more.
Colorado hasn't had a first-rounder in 14 years with Hunter ending the drought.
Hunter matched the highest draft pick in CU history alongside Bo Matthews (No. 2 overall to the San Diego Chargers in 1974), he was just the fourth top 5 pick in CU history also joining Byron White (No.4 to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1938) and Michael Westbrook (No. 4 to the Washington Redskins in 1995).
Hunter is the third player from CU drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars, the first since WR Laviska Shenault in 2020.
