Players receiving rings to celebrate national championships, conference championships and bowl victories has become normal, but when a program celebrates a 7-6 season that culminated in a bowl loss, it is worth taking note.

Under the leadership of head coach Brent Key, 2024 was the second consecutive 7-6 season for the Yellow Jackets. However, unlike the 2023 season which ended with a victory over UCF in the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl, 2024 concluded with a loss to Vanderbilt in the Birmingham Bowl. Yet, that was enough of an achievement to celebrate the season with rings.
Coach Key has put the program on a positive path, which has brought some excitement back to Atlanta. However, this wasn’t his best decision. One also has to wonder how Georgia Tech would celebrate if they won a more prestigious bowl or the ACC Championship Game.
"Celebrate as if you've been there before" is something that needs to be explained to Georgia Tech. Especially since they're celebrating after a loss.
