With the transfer portal long closed, it isn’t often that a quality player becomes available in June. However, that was the situation with running back Marquise Henderson, who after recently being dismissed by Clemson, announced his new home on Wednesday.

Henderson was a Class of 2025 signee with the Tigers, who committed back in December, 2023. At the time of his commitment, he also had offers from Virginia Tech, Virginia, Georgia Tech, NC State, Boston College, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt and others. He then enjoyed a memorable senior season at Belton-Honea Path High School in Honea Path, South Carolina, where he rushed for 2,122 yards and 26 touchdowns.
He enrolled at Clemson during the winter, but was a limited participant during the spring because of a hamstring injury. He then entered the transfer portal on June 20th after being dismissed from the program. No reason was given for the program’s decision.
"Clemson has made the decision to dismiss Marquise Henderson from its program. We wish him the best as he moves forward."
Henderson joins a Liberty team that lost most of its top running back options from last season. While he is a late addition, the opportunity will be there for him to be an immediate contributor in 2025.
