Tyson Fury Back In The Gym — What's Next?

Tyson Fury has returned to the boxing gym, as he displayed his shadow boxing, amid rumors of a return from retirement.

Fury hung up the gloves in January following his second consecutive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. The losses prevented Fury from becoming the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. Despite this, The Gypsy King was adamant that he had done enough to win. Fury has stated that he would return for Usyk, even mentioning a date for April 2026. Usyk is likely to retire after his next fight, although the opponent is no clearer. In the meantime, Fury has been keeping himself busy. The footage shows him shadow boxing. Fury looks in good physical condition, as we explore who he could face.

Options

The most obvious fight for Fury is a third and final clash with Oleksandr Usyk. For Fury, this is a chance at redemption. For Usyk, it’s an opportunity to cement his legacy by definitively closing the chapter on his greatest rival. The potential of a third fight would draw massive interest, and Fury’s claims that he would want the fight in England—after his two Saudi Arabia bouts—would make it an even bigger spectacle.

For years, a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua has been one of the most anticipated matchups. Now, with both fighters having faced setbacks in their careers, the window of opportunity may be closing. A fight against Joshua would be a monumental event, breaking all sorts of records and generating an immense amount of money.

A less obvious but still compelling option for Fury is a fight against Daniel Dubois. Dubois has had an impressive resurgence since his loss to Usyk, securing victories over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua. A fight against Dubois would be a chance for Fury to prove he can still beat the top-tier of the new generation.
