An under-the-radar Tennessee Vols redshirt senior earned an impressive honor on Monday.
Redshirt senior offensive lineman Dayne Davis was named the SEC offensive lineman of the week after his strong play in the Vols' 48-24 win against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Davis started at right tackle against Vanderbilt.
From UTSports news release: Davis made his second consecutive start at right tackle and helped pave the way and protect for 617 yards of total offense in the Vols' 48-24 win over the Commodores. The former walk-on from Bluff City, Tennessee, played 55 snaps and did not allow a sack, hit or a penalty. It was the fifth start of his career and second of the season. The Vols averaged 7.8 yards per play, allowed only one sack as a team and generated their second game of 600-plus yards of total offense this season.
Davis is the second Tennessee offensive lineman this season to earn SEC offensive lineman of the week honors.
