The UNLV Lady Rebels continue to look sharp this season, sitting in the No. 2 seed in the Mountain West Conference. They currently hold a 9-1 conference record and a 14-6 overall mark. The only team ahead of them is San Diego State, which is 9-0 in conference play and 15-3 overall.
The Lady Rebels are one of the most complete teams in the conference, with strong scoring threats in Meadow Rolands and Jasmyn Lott and defensive standouts in Shelbee Brown and Aaliyah Alexander. UNLV can lock down an opponent’s best player, then go right back down the floor and score.
This season, UNLV has racked up 127 steals and 65 blocks, compared to the first-place Aztecs’ 137 steals and 44 blocks. That gap shows just how close the Lady Rebels are to the top of the Mountain West. UNLV is averaging 68.7 points while holding opponents to 61.6, good for a plus-7.1 scoring margin.
Defensively, UNLV is holding opponents to 38.3 percent shooting overall and 30.2 percent from 3-point range. The Lady Rebels also defend without fouling, limiting opponents to 7.5 free-throw attempts per game.
On the other end, UNLV’s offense has been steady, with four players averaging 10-plus points per game and the team shooting 42.7 percent from the field. The Lady Rebels are also drawing fouls, forcing opponents to allow 10.5 free-throw attempts per game, and they are converting at 71.9 percent from the line. UNLV has also controlled the glass, averaging 38.9 rebounds per game while allowing 35.5.
UNLV is set to face New Mexico on Jan. 28 in the teams’ second meeting of the season. The first matchup came Dec. 20, when UNLV won by 18, 89-71.
