Upper St. Clair forward Tyler Robbins is officially a Division-I prospect.
The 6-foot-10, 230-pound big added his first two D-I offers last month, earning them from St. Francis (Pa.) and Loyola (Md.). On Tuesday, he joined Pittsburgh Sports Now to break down his game and speak about his experience so far this summer.
The forward averaged 13.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 5.1 blocks per game last season for Upper St. Clair as a junior. Now, he has been playing for Team Durant on the Nike EYBL circuit so far this summer.
“It’s going well, I really like it down there,” Robbins told PSN. “It’s really cool. It’s tough because every player is your height and every player is your size, but it’s the highest level of high-school basketball basically, so, it shows you what you have to work on and get better at.”
“I’ve learned some of my strengths and weaknesses by comparing myself to other players there. I would say my shot-blocking would be a strength, I would say interior offense, post offense. I run the floor well. Weaknesses, I would probably say handling the ball and foot speed.”
Robbins played football growing up, but quit after eighth grade. He is now fully focused on hoops, and is now fielding more and more college interest as his career moves on. While he is keeping his recruitment pretty private, he says he will make the schools public once they offer him. Robbins thinks he will visit Loyola, St. Francis, and some other schools this summer, with most visits coming after AAU season concludes.
For now, keep your eyes out for more offers as Robbins competes throughout the rest of the summer.
