Team USA defeated Oman by 9 runs at the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two 2023-2027 final held at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium on May 27. 

Oman won the toss but elected to field first, putting the USA to bat. The USA posted a total of 293 runs in their allotted 50 overs. They started strongly, reaching 66 runs in the powerplay. The opening pair, Smit Patel and Shayan Jahangir, laid a solid foundation for the USA.

The top and middle-order batters anchored the innings with impressive knocks. Saiteja Mukkamalla was the USA’s highest scorer, making a solid 73 runs off 79 balls, including several boundaries. All USA batters reached double figures except Jasdeep Singh, who scored eight runs, and Nosthush Kenjige, who remained unbeaten on three.

Oman’s bowlers conceded 10 extras, including five leg-byes, four wides, and one no-ball. Sufyan Mehmood took 3/58 in 9 overs, while Aamir Kaleem and Shakeel Ahmed claimed two wickets each. Four other bowlers tried to make an impact but remained wicketless.

Oman narrowly fell short, finishing nine runs behind the USA’s total of 284 runs. Captain Jatinder Singh began the innings with a steady 42 runs off 46 balls. He was the second wicket to fall after being run out by Milind Kumar in the 15th over. Significant contributions came from Sufyan Mehmood, who led the chase with 73 runs off 51 balls, hitting five fours and three sixes.

Hammad Mirza also showcased solid batting skills, adding a half-century. Harmeet Singh and Jasdeep Singh stood out as the best bowlers, each claiming three wickets in ten overs.

The USA secured a 9-run victory, topping the points table with 28 points and a Net Run Rate of +0.758, while Oman finished third with 24 points in the final match.
