USC Basketball: This Trojan Will Be X-Factor In Measuring Stick Game Vs Gonzaga
USA TODAY Sports

Your USC Trojans men's basketball team has been making waves all year and has shown why they are such a hyped squad in college basketball. USC has one of the better offensive attacks in the country, and they use it to their advantage to overmatch opposing teams.

They currently sit with a record of 5-2 on the season but have a major test coming up in their next contest. USC is scheduled to face off against the 11th-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs on Saturday night from Las Vegas.

This will be a massive challenge for the Trojans and could be used as a measuring stick to see where they are as a team. But one insider believes that this game is going to tell us a lot about freshman guard Isaiah Collier.

"The preliminaries are over. Now comes a battle with Gonzaga. Now comes a main-event moment for USC basketball, the kind of game made for a big-time point guard and the No. 1 recruit in the United States for the Class of 2023."

Per Matt Zemek of Trojans Wire

Collier has been great for the Trojans so far and has shown why he was such a high recruit. But these are the types of games that the team needs him to show up for.

Through seven games played, Collier is averaging 17.7 points per game on 53.9 percent shooting from the field. He is also shooting 42.1 percent from beyond the three-point line as well.

"This is the kind of game Isaiah Collier came to USC to play in. This is the kind of stage Isaiah Collier was meant to embrace. This clash against Gonzaga is the kind of situation Collier needs to own and conquer in order to become a top NBA draft prospect. This is a matchup Collier must figure out in order to give USC a real belief it can make a deep run in the 2024 NCAA Tournament."

Per Matt Zemek of Trojans Wire

USC is going to need their star guard to step up in this matchup, and if he does, they will have a great chance to take Gonzaga down.
