The University of Southern California is preparing to open Rawlinson Stadium this August officially. The new facility will serve as the home for several women’s athletics programs.

In a post shared by USC Athletics Director Jennifer Cohen, the university recognized President Carol Folt for her role in making the project a reality. The plaque dedication took place on June 18 and included the names of Folt and Board of Trustees Chair Suzanne Nora Johnson.

The plaque spells out what the stadium stands for. It's about honoring USC’s support for women’s sports. The official opening is set for August 17. Students, alumni, and fans are expected to join. It marks the start of a new chapter for women’s teams and the wider Trojan athletics community.

The stadium will add another modern facility to USC’s athletic campus. It is expected to host soccer and lacrosse competitions, among others. For student-athletes, it offers updated training and playing environments.

This move continues a broader trend of schools enhancing women’s sports spaces. For Trojans, it also supports recruiting and helps keep its programs competitive within the Big Ten conference.

The ceremony is set just weeks before the fall semester begins. That timing should allow incoming and returning students to participate in the grand opening. It also provides an early chance to generate excitement ahead of the new athletic year.

For now, the brick walls are up, the plaque is installed, and the countdown to August is on. The message from leadership is clear: this is a significant step for Trojan women’s athletics.
