UTSA Football: More Superlatives From Senior Day

Saturday was an all-around great day for the UTSA Roadrunners. UTSA and USF had never met prior to this past weekend. Pounding South Florida to the tune of 49-21, the Roadrunners put themselves in a position to earn a spot in the AAC title game with another win this week. 

Along the way, UTSA put up numbers that broke several records from the 12-year history of the program. 

As a team, UTSA broke the school record for most yards in a game with 643. Senior quarterback Frank Harris accounted for 523 yards of offense, as well as a season-high six touchdowns. Harris broke his own record, which was previously 445 yards against Middle Tennessee on Sept. 30, 2022.

Harris passed for 411 yards, the second-most in a game in school history.

Harris' yardage total was second most by an FBS player this season.

With 49 points, UTSA tied their season high. They also scored 49 against Temple back in October, where their seven-game winning streak began.

Harris' day was helped along by receivers Joshua Cephus and Devin McCuin. McCuin, a freshman, had a career-high seven receptions for 91 yards. Cephus, a senior, had 163 receiving yards: the fourth-most receiving yards in a game in UTSA history.

With that performance, Cephus became the career leader in receiving yards with 3,454.

Under Jeff Traylor, UTSA are now 7-0 in conference play for the third consecutive season and 29-3 against league competition. In total, UTSA is is 38-13 (.745) under Traylor. This gives Traylor the best record and winning percentage for a UTSA head coach through 51 games in program history.

"It's always players. Always has been, always will be," Traylor said of leading his team to victory on Saturday. "Starts with our line up front, protecting [Harris]. They did a heck of a job. McCuin had a heck of a night. Amador really came on. Tykee made plays. Cephus was amazing. Robert Henry was right out of the backfield. And then the straw that stirs the drink, man, old 0...It's just our kids. It's just what they do. Ya'll been watching them. Ya'll know. You ask me to describe it. You're just as in awe as I am. They do it all the time. Some of those catches were phenomenal. And they're freshman. Future is bright, man. Amador, McCuin, it's exciting."
