Houston Rockets Fans Say They’d Score on an NBA Pro

According to a new study by VegasInsider, Houston Rockets fans are among the boldest NBA fanbases when it comes to challenging NBA professionals. VegasInsider’s nationwide poll of 3,156 NBA fans asked respondents how many points they believe they could score against an NBA professional in a pick-up game, and how their three-point shooting compares to the average NBA player.

83.6% of Rockets fans believe they could score at least one bucket against an NBA pro, placing them in the top five most confident fanbases in the league. More than 50% of Rockets fans back themselves from downtown, with 24% saying they’re almost as good as an NBA pro, 7% claiming they’re the same, and 20% rating themselves even better.

Rockets Fans Are In the Top 10

Houston Rockets fans aren’t the only bold fanbase in the NBA when it comes to challenging NBA professionals. Rockets fans are ranked No. 5 in VegasInsider’s top 10 list. The Miami Heat, Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers, and Atlanta Hawks fans are ahead of the Rockets fans. The Heat, Grizzlies, Clippers, and Hawks fans are ranked No. 1-4, with 85.5%, 85.4%, 84.7%, and 84.6%, respectively, who think they could score at least one bucket against an NBA player.

The New Orleans Pelicans, Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, and Utah Jazz fans round out the top 10. The Pelicans, Raptors, Nets, Hornets, and Jazz fans are ranked No. 6-10, with 82.4%, 80.8%, 80.0%, 79.3%, and 76.7%, respectively, who think they could score at least one bucket against an NBA pro.

In contrast, Boston Celtics and Portland Trail Blazers fans were the least confident at 56.7% and 54.8%. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as some Celtics and Trail Blazers fans have been pessimistic due to Celtics star Jayson Tatum’s torn Achilles and the Trail Blazers’ recent struggles and lack of star power, respectively.

Final Thoughts

On average, only 65% of NBA fans believe they could score once against an NBA professional. That said, Houston Rockets fans are nearly 20% more confident than the typical NBA fan.
