With Virginia already up 1-0, AJ Smith's goal in the 82nd minute all but secured the Cavaliers' trip to the ACC Men's Soccer Championship game. The Cal goaltender left the net to get a loose ball near the end line, but UVA's Marco Dos Santos beat him to the ball and deflected the ball back to Smith, who was able to take a shot on an empty goal.
