Canelo Alvarez has reacted to the possibility of fighting former two-weight UFC champion Conor McGregor.
There’s scarcely a fighter in the land that McGregor hasn’t had something to say about, whether they fight in a boxing ring or an octagon.
Unfortunately for Canelo Alvarez, he too has previously been in the firing line, with the Irishman having previously expressed meeting the Mexican in a so-called ‘megafight’.
The bout with Floyd Mayweather has shown McGregor just how well boxing PPV pays in comparison to the UFC, and evidently, he’s developed a taste for the cash.
That said, there doesn’t appear to be much prospect of convincing Canelo to be drawn into his games.
With Canelo fighting Caleb Plant on Saturday night in a bid to become the undisputed super-middleweight champion, he’s been speaking to the media in the build-up.
During an interview with BT Sport, Canelo was quizzed over the possibility of fighting McGregor. Around 1:30 into the clip below, he gives his response…

Canelo has absolutely nothing to gain out of meeting McGregor in the ring. He’s instead focusing his efforts on actual boxing accomplishments, rather than bringing the circus to town.
