The No. 21 Virginia Tech Hokies got a big series win over the No. 6 Clemson Tigers at home over the weekend, winning both games of a doubleheader on Saturday before the Tigers won Sunday to avoid the sweep. Game one in Blacksburg ended in dramatic fashion, 5-4. The Hokies scored all 5 of their runs in the 7th inning and Cameron Fagan provided the final blow with a 3-run walk-off home run. Caroline Jacobsen, Reedy Davenport and Maddie Moore each homered for Clemson in the loss. The Hokies secured the series win with a 3-1 victory in Game two on Saturday. Lyndsey Grein got the start in the circle and earned the complete game win, allowing just 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 5 Clemson batters. The Tigers avoided the series sweep with a 5-4 come-from-behind win over the Hokies on Sunday. The win marked victory number 150 for the Clemson softball program, and career win number 900 for head coach John Rittman. Alia Logoleo, Reedy Davenport and Jadeyn Ruszkowski all homered for the Tigers in the win.
