Most Nebraska football fans are assuming that Dylan Raiola will be the Huskers’ starting quarterback this fall. But one who isn’t taking that for granted is Daniel Kaelin.

It’s easy to see why fans want to crown Raiola as the starter. He’s the five-star quarterback who is a Nebraska football legacy. The kid is a star and he’s lived up to the hype so far this spring. Raiola was shown throwing a dart down the field on Monday to Jacory Barney.

We have seen Raiola throw touchdown passes to Jaylen Lloyd and also Demetrius Bell. The throws have been impressive and Raiola is known for his ability to push the ball down the field.

However, at Tuesday’s practice, Kaelin showed he could do that too. We got a glimpse of what Danny Dimes can do in another recent video, but reporters were allowed access to practice on Tuesday and Kaelin threw touchdown passes to Jahmal Banks and Isaiah Neyor.

Barney also caught a pass down the sideline from Kaelin. The freshman receiver is stacking good days. Lloyd is doing the same and so are Neyor and Banks. It’s an impressive group of wideouts. Nebraska football also seems to have actual depth at the quarterback position.

Kaelin is showing why Nebraska fans were so excited about his commitment — also why it was so important to keep him in the fold. I’d still bet on Raiola winning the starting job but judging by what we have seen so far, Danny Dimes isn’t going to make it easy.
