The Indiana women’s basketball program has a new name atop the all-time scoring list and it happened on Sunday afternoon against rival Purdue in a 95-62 win.

Senior forward Mackenzie Holmes passed Tyra Buss as the program’s all-time scoring leader when she finished with 17 points. She needed 17 points to pass Buss and did exactly that. She now holds the record at 2,364 points for her career.

The program-setting bucket came at the 5:15 mark of the fourth quarter. Holmes caught the ball in the middle of paint and spun to the right block, finishing with a bank off of the glass.

Holmes, a fifth-year senior, came into Sunday’s game averaging 17.1 points per game for her career. This season, Holmes is averaging 20.3 points per game after Sunday.

Indiana women’s basketball (20-3, 11-2) sits at second in the Big Ten standings.
