Lionel Messi achieved a long-awaited triumph with the Argentina national team earlier this year when he helped the side win the 2021 Copa America tournament.

Messi spoke to the Argentine-based outlet ESPN Argentina about the accomplishment.

“I felt a lot of things, I couldn’t believe it,” Messi said. “I had fought so hard, dreamed so much, that I didn’t really understand what was happening. It was like a dream. It was a spectacular moment. I was totally gone and paralyzed. I couldn’t believe it had happened.”

This was one grand moment in Messi’s career, considering that he had fallen short multiple times before in this competition.

Winning the Copa America tournament surely boosted his already astounding legacy with La Albiceleste
