The Syracuse Orange captured its first-ever series win against a top-15 opponent over the weekend by taking 2 of 3 against the No. 15 Virginia Tech Hokies. Game one was a pitcher's duel as Syracuse senior Lindsey Hendrix pitched a complete game, allowing just 5 hits and 1 run in the Orange's 2-1 victory. Madison Knight hit a home run for the Orange and Angie Ramos scored as a pinch runner as Makenzie Foster reached on a fielder's choice in the 4th inning to give Cuse the 2-1 lead. Cori McMillan homered to provide the only run for the Hokies. Emma Lemly also pitched a complete game for VT, giving up just 4 hits and the 2 runs in the loss. Game two went to extra innings, where the Hokies scored 4 runs in the eighth inning and walked away with the 7-3 win. Cori McMillan provided the heroics with a 3-run home run for the No. 15 Hokies in the 8th inning before tacking on another insurance run. Emma Ritter and Addy Greene also had homers for Tech in the win. The Orange clinched its first series win over a top-15 opponent with their 6-2 win in the series finale. Madison Knight homered in the first to give the Orange a 2-0 lead and they didn't look back from there. Lindsey Hendrix threw her 2nd complete game of the series and finished with just 4 hits and 2 runs allowed in the win.
