The 2025 WNBA season is in full swing, and all eyes are on Indiana Fever sensation Caitlin Clark. Now in her second year, Clark continues to captivate fans, dominate headlines, and draw comparisons to some of the biggest names in sports history.
On Friday, sports analyst Bomani Jones joined the conversation and dropped a bold comparison: Caitlin Clark is the Tiger Woods of women’s basketball.
“We are actually dealing with a Tiger Woods-like phenomenon,” Jones said. “Golf had a world for the fans, and then the rest of us showed up. Interestingly, the rest of us showed up, and everybody was on the same team.”
Jones pointed out that just like Woods transformed golf into a mainstream spectacle, Clark has taken the WNBA to a whole new level—bringing new viewers, changing the culture, and making every Fever game appointment viewing.
He also addressed the media-fueled rivalry between Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese.
“Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are not in the same class or caliber,” Jones said, noting that Paige Bueckers, not Reese, would be a more fitting counterpart for Clark once she enters the league.
Clark isn’t just getting love from fans and sportswriters—media figures are placing her among legends. Radio personality Colin Cowherd echoed the Tiger Woods comparison and took it even further.
“If you talk about league-changing athletes in America — Tiger (Woods) in golf, Michael Jordan in basketball, Caitlin Clark,” Cowherd said. “She’s the most influential athlete, man or woman, I’d argue in the last year.”
Clark’s numbers speak for themselves. She opened her sophomore WNBA campaign with a triple-double against the Sky: 20 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists. She followed that with a 27-point, 11-assist performance versus Atlanta. Even in a rough outing against Brittney Griner and the Mercury, she still managed 11 points on limited touches.
Whether it’s her deep range, flashy passing, or cultural impact, Caitlin Clark is proving she’s not just the future of the WNBA—she’s the moment.
