West Indies defeated Ireland by 197 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method in the final ODI held at Castle Avenue, Dublin.

After winning the toss, Ireland chose to field, sending West Indies in to bat. Despite the early departure of opener Brandon King, the Caribbean side recovered well, reaching 58 runs within the first ten overs. Evin Lewis, batting at number two, added 14 runs before falling early in the innings.

The highlight of the West Indies’ innings came from Keacy Carty, who delivered a career-defining performance. Carty struck 170 runs off 142 balls, smashing 15 boundaries and eight sixes to record his third ODI century. He was supported by captain Shai Hope, who contributed a composed 75 from 76 deliveries. Carty shared vital partnerships of 78 and 97 runs with Hope and Amir Jangoo, respectively, helping the team reach a formidable total of 385 runs in their allotted 50 overs.

Ireland’s bowlers struggled to contain the run flow, conceding 27 extras, most of which came from wides. Barry McCarthy took three wickets but was expensive, giving away 100 runs in his full quota. Joshua Little maintained the best economy rate at 4.90 but failed to pick up a wicket.

In response, Ireland’s chase was derailed by consistent wickets and unfavorable weather. At 165 for 8 in the 29.5th over, rain brought an early end to proceedings. Cade Carmichael top-scored with 48, while Lorcan Tucker added 29. With two players, Joshua Little and Jordan Neill, unavailable due to injury, the team was unable to mount a comeback.

The DLS method set a par score of 363, leaving Ireland well short and handing West Indies a resounding win to square the series at one apiece.
