The Packers have built a dynamic core of young players on both sides of the football, both through the NFL Draft, and with targeted top-of-market free agent signings around a young quarterback, and could be on the cusp of making a Super Bowl run in 2025.
Thanks to Jordan Love’s continued development, the arrivals of Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney combined with savvy drafts from general manager Brian Gutekunst and the Packers’ front office, Green Bay has sights set on building on an 11-6 finish and NFC Wild Card appearance.
Green Bay is banking on continuity of young players having familiarity in coordinator Jeff Hafley’s defense, Love continuing to ascend, and young wide receivers such as rookies Matthew Golden and Savion Williams stepping into prominent roles and producing this season.
Over at Pro Football Focus, NFL analyst Dalton Wasserman believes they are two key pieces of the puzzle for the Packers to close the gap on the Super Bowl champion Eagles in the NFC.
“Green Bay has turned in a winning campaign and a playoff appearance in five of the past six seasons,” Wasserman writes for PFF. “The team should be expected to do so again, but it needs to find consistency through the air, both on offense and defense, to take the next step toward Super Bowl contention.”
If the Packers’ secondary makes a leap, and Golden’s strong showing during the preseason translates to his rookie campaign, Green Bay has the chance to go a long way towards making a deep playoff run.
